| | August 19, 2012Thanks Bina for sharing I think the rebisnoisilpty lies the hands of each and everyone to do what they can for a cleaner world. In fact, the change in mindset is a big job and we need the help of the government organisations as well as NGOs collaborating for a massive campaign- which needs to be really well designed and implemented taking all the different aspects in consideration- social, cultural, psychological, environmental. According to me that's what is really missing: a holistic approach. Take the advertisement that was repeatedly broadcasted on the national TV for example with the catchy tune Ramassser, pas zeter, to zeter to tasser (not really a TV watcher so I'm not sure if that is still being showed now)- it had a quite an impact on my 4 year old niece and 2 year old nephew. However it was done, ignoring the Why should we not litter? What are the impacts on the environent? A couple of months ago, Eliya, 4, threw her paper and toys out of her house. My sister asks her to pick them up, trying to talk her into it in different ways in vain. 1h30 min later, watching TV, Eliya saw the famous ad- were ther is a policeman who caught someone littering. She ran out of the house and picked up everything she had to! And when I asked why should we pick up rubbish (though she knew about it before) the only thing she told me was Because if you do, you'll go to jail! That's not the message that should be passed on according to me Karinne was clipping 2 year old Teo's nails outside. As Teo saw that Karinne was throwing his nails were been thrown away, he sang Ramasser pas zeter, to zeter, to tasser All this to say that if the ad was done with a catchy tune, explaining the whys, the impact on the environment and on people, it would probably be more efficient- specially displayed during peak hours- like in between soaps which are very famous even in families from low economic background Talking about that makes me think about an idea- how about organising a competition for the creation of pro-environment campaigns (audiovisual and posters/stickers) with a judge panel including a people from different careers/backgrounds and attractove prizes- that we can ask MBC to display? There could be various interesting ones! I believe we have very talented people here! |
